About me
Dr. Nora Hourani-Farraj is an Arab American Orthodox Christian whose ancestral roots are from Jordan. Born in Southern CA but raised in Saudi Arabia and Jordan for her schooling years, Nora brings with her an authentic cultured perspective to her personal and professional relationships and experiences. Dr. Farraj has traveled across the world and has been in education for 30 years with her first job as an English teacher in Amman, Jordan leading her to a career in teaching, public relations, and later educational leadership. Witnessing the years of ongoing social injustice, discrimination, profiling, and misrepresentation of Arabs and Arab Americans residing in the US has motivated her to increase awareness and raise the voices of this neglected, invisible minority. Her doctoral research examined family and community engagement using the lens of immigrant families in her district.
