Lydia T. Contreras is a dedicated and experienced school counselor with over a decade of experience in education, currently serving as a community school counselor for the past 2.5 years. Prior to this role, she spent five years as a high school counselor, helping students navigate academic, personal, and vocational challenges. Her career began as a Spanish teacher, where she taught for eight years, giving her a strong foundation in both education and communication.
With an undergraduate degree in Spanish and a Master's in Educational Counseling, Lydia is committed to supporting students in their holistic development. She is skilled in providing individual and group counseling on personal, academic, and career-related issues. Her ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators ensures a supportive and well-rounded approach to student well-being.
Fluent in Spanish, Lydia is also experienced in translating and interpreting, allowing her to serve as a bridge for bilingual families and enhance communication within the school community. Her strong communication skills, honed through public speaking, presentations, and academic writing, enable her to advocate for students and clearly convey essential information to staff and parents.
A proud mother of two teenage girls, Lydia brings a personal understanding of adolescent development to her role and is deeply committed to fostering a nurturing and empowering environment for all students.
